An aspiring architect who recently graduated from the University of Lincoln with a First Class Honours degree in Architecture (ARB/RIBA). One of my fundamental design principles revolves around enhancing the built environment to promote greater equality for neurodiverse individuals. I am passionate about challenging conventional approaches to create spaces that are not only more sustainable but also truly inclusive.
The architectural project is a neurodiversity-focused installation located near Bath Abbey in the historic city of Bath. It features a building with six distinct spaces, each representing various emotional states experienced by neurodiverse individuals when engaging with the built environment.
The primary concept of this installation is to immerse neurotypical visitors in the experiences of neurodiverse individuals, such as those with autism, as they explore Bath's heritage sites. The goal is to enhance understanding and empathy. The building comprises six rooms, each dedicated to a specific emotional state: invisible, anxious, overwhelmed, disoriented, stigmatized, and isolated.
The project is a modernization of Bath's spa heritage with a Health and Wellbeing Center at its core. It's designed to be inclusive for people with psychosocial disabilities, following universal design principles. This response to the COVID-19 pandemic creates a space for private retreats but also emphasizes communal wellness through connections with others and nature. The project conserves Bath's heritage with biodiversity and water features while revitalizing it as a modern spa city.
A select group of students from my year had the privilege of being chosen for an exceptional opportunity to visit Foster and Partners. During our visit, we were tasked with creating a three-dimensional model for one of their active projects, specifically an apartment tower. Collaborating on this 3D modelling project with Foster and Partners was an incredibly enriching experience.
